MrBeast Feastables Chocolate Milk

Cocoa and 'cooked milk' flavor engage in a contentious yet civil battle for supremacy, with each claiming a piece of the crown at different points in the sip. Sweetness, salt, and cream play their supporting roles competently and remain in balance throughout. Texture-wise, it feels satisfying and fully-burdened, without veering into sludgy/chalky territory that claims many a protein-fortified chocolate milk. The 'good' certainly outweighs the 'bad'-- there are several things to like here. Rarely do you find a 'whole' protein fortified chocolate milk that employs real sugar as a sweetener. I also applaud the commitment to Fair Trade and eradication of child labor in the chocolate industry. My reviews are solely on taste/drinking experience, however, this remains a tasty and portable (UHT) way to enjoy a few extra grams of protein. That 'cooked milk' or caramelized lactose flavor is inevitable in ultra-high-temp pasteurization; I get that it's a necessary evil when balancing flavor with distribution and shelf life limitations.

Bei Hollow Farm Raw Chocolate Milk

Gorgeously well-balanced with a salty uprfont hit that sets the tone early for the delicous deluge that is about to follow. The cocoa flavor is prominent and slightly on the darker side of the continuum-- it's not overly sweet or candified, and comes across as an indulgently creamy treat that lasts well into the aftertaste.

Peaceful Springs Farm Raw Chocolate Goat Milk

Resoundingly refreshing cocoa flavor with a slightly mature/sour pitch in the first third of the sip. It's not particularly wild or 'goaty' for those concerned about that-- it remains confidently under-sweet and cocoa-focused-- and I applaud the commitment to making chocolate milk that feels like: chocolate, milk.

Dutch Meadows Raw Chocolate Milk

Brilliantly thin with generous cocoa and lavishly grassy undertones, it's a unique treasure to enjoy raw chocolate milk like this. Its thin viscosity is devoid of any starches, thickeners, or emulsifiers could prove to be a hurdle for the uninitiated. But it's a hurdle well worth pursuing.

Maple Hill Organic Reduced Sugar Chocolate Milk

Bold and brave-- an unapologetically un-sweet chocolate milk that shines the spotlight on cocoa and buttery, grassy, salty cream (even at 2% reduced fat). The result is a shockingly focused treat that is adequately sweet in isolation, but is likely to be off-putting to the casual consumer seeking a quick, sweet fix. I'm seriously impressed.

Oberweis Dairy Organic Chocolate Milk

A deeper, darker, and of course, creamier experience compared with it’s 2% (non-organic) counterpart— but it lacks a salty punch that would further pop the cocoa and cream. Petty nitpicks aside, it’s an absolutely delicious way to spend a few dollars, a few minutes, and a few hundred calories.

Maple Hill Organic Whole Chocolate Milk

Every bit as delectable as its reduced fat sibling (just a tad girthier), this could very well be the best shelf-stable chocolate milk available. Unapologetically grassy, salty, and buttery (not necessarily in that order)— it delivers loads of indulgence from mouth to brainstem to duodenum— and all points in between.

Organic Valley Fuel Chocolate

If Robitussin got into the chocolate milk business, I would expect something similar to this. Fortunately the Stevia flavor isn’t oppressive, but it’s not flavorful in any positive direction. The texture is dense and not as unnatural as expected, and visually, it looks ok. And just like that, my cough is gone.

Organic Valley Ultra Chocolate Milk

Refreshingly unsweet, with a heft that would suggest more flavor than it actually carries. There’s a bit of an aftertaste that is a departure from ‘milky’ or ‘chocolaty’ but overall, its focus on cocoa (without a sugary crutch) is unique and honorable.

Maple Hill Organic Chocolate Milk

Devastatingly focused on delivering a clean, true cocoa flavor that pairs exceedingly well with the cream to provide a top-flight drinking experience. There’s a salty bite and a fleeting but blissful grassy back-end that both feels like a reward, yet is rewarding in itself.

Mom's Organic Chocolate Milk

Confidently wild, luxuriously creamy, and exceedingly drinkable— the grass-fed cream is by far the star of the show here. Chocolate plays an understated, yet competent role, letting the cream flourish and the salt accentuate each draw like an ocean wave lapping the smoothly sun-bleached rocks of the Downeast Maine coast.

Organic Valley Breakfast Balance Dark Chocolate

Hollow and watery with the trademark Stevia-astringency, which remains remarkably difficult to hide. I’ve had much worse tasting things at this low-50s-calorie-per-100mL tranche, and I can’t deny the impressive attributes (organic, lactose free, gluten free, Fair Trade, high calcium, high(ish) protein)— but the flavor and drinking experience does not compare favorably to your average chocolate milk.
